ANTEDILUVIAN / TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE “Cogitating Vacuous” split 7”EP
ANTEDILUVIAN / TEMPLE NIGHTSIDE (CA/AU) “Cogitating Vacuous” split 7”EP (Nuclear Winter Records) 6€
By far the best death metal split-7″ to be out in 2012 and one of the very best of the last decade, Nuclear Winter Records proves with this mystical artefact that the black blood that flows in the label’s veins flows directly from the hideous heart that powers the undead body of death metal.
Enough praising to our comrades. Seriously, this split-7″ is quintessential and both bands are absolutely fantastic in delivering some of the most mystical, violent metal sounds in the underground today.
The canadians Antediluvian are the most known right now. Their “Throught The Cervix Of Havvah” debut full-length has put them at the very front boundaries of the worldwide underground metal scene (we carry this title on CD, if you’re interested). Their offering here is in the same veins. A slab of chaotic, precataclysmic black/death.
Temple Nightside are known only to the underground death metal connoisseurs for the moment, and I hope that this will change as soon as they will release a full-length. I’ve already wrote all the good I think of them in the occasion of their phenomental “Prophecies Of Malevolence” MLP, and all of it applies in their side of the 7″. Ritual, blackened death metal that smells incense and leaves the iron tast of blood in your mouth.
The split is not only articulate and homogenous musically but also conceptually and aesthetically. Tim from Antediluvian has designed the monstrous artwork. Judging from the songtitles (“Communion with the Void” and “Somnambulant of the Void”, both there also seems to be a conceptual continuum.
