Mgła “Groza” CD

MGŁA (Pol) “Groza” CD (Northern Heritage) 12e

Mgła’s personal take on modern black metal takes its full shape in their praised debut album from 2008. Whoever hears “Groza” (or Mgła in general for that matter) lightheartedly and superficially. might consider that this is standard BM of  scandinavian conviction. He would be fucking wrong. The structure of the songs is extremely clever and adventurous, even progressive one may say. There is a complex, yet organic flow throughout these 36.5 minutes that is nothing short of captivating. The band does not hesitate to insist on some parts and become monotonous, torturing and hypnotizing the listener. A classic masterpiece.
