SAYYADINA “Mourning The Unknown” LP

SAYYADINA (SWE) “Mourning The Unknown” LP (Nerve Altar) 13e

Another awesome vinyl courtesy of Nerve Altar and the occasion for me to rediscover Sayyadina

Half a decade ago I adored their 2004 “Fear Gave Us Wings” debut album because it was swedish grindcore with a twist, featuring current/ex members of General Surgery, Victims, Nasum. It had a lot of hardcore thrown in, making it more memorable than most of their peers were playing at that time.

I somehow skipped the 2nd album which came out in 2007. I am glad to realize that the record was still infused with Sayyadina’s  unique, personal style. It is quite different from their debut, a little bit crustier for sure, but still crucial and essential.

There is a lot going on here musically. It’s the kind of record that needs time in order to get hold of all the subtleties and comprehend the overall flow. Excellent!
