SUN OF NOTHING are an emblematic band for Blastbeat Mailmurder. It’s thanks to them that we made our record label beginnings back in 2003…
Their radical “…And Voices, Words, Faces Complete The Dream” debut for BBM (sold out by now), has been described as their sludge album, and its successor “In The Weak And The Wounded” as their black metal album. I guess this makes “The Guilt Of Feeling Alive” their post rock album.
This wasn’t a surprise since the band has been playing most of these tunes live for quite some time and their appreciation for Cult Of Luna and co was more than obvious… Luckily their 3rd album is not sheer C.O.N. plagiarism. Their take on post rock is personal and quite distinct with healthy influences from Joy Division, the band’s music being constructed around the performance of one of the best drummers of the local scene, Dimitris Zafiropoulos, who also bashes the skins for END – one of Greece’s most inspiring black metal units.
“The Guilt Of Feeling Alive” will be appreciated by the post-rock audience on the lookout for a fresh perspective, as well as from fans of more extreme sounds who want a quality atmospheric record… In either case it is a crystalline soundtrack for urban distress.
