MOYNTZA FANZINE#5, 176 x A4 pages, 5€

MOYNTZA is easily the best greek fanzine ever. It is done by three hardcore punk dudes who also love their metal and everything sick and heavy. This is is the long-delayed, highly anticipated issue#5 featuring interviews with Stress (Gr), La Vida Es Un Mus, Feral Ward, Midnight, Iceage, Sexdrome, Bob Ostertag, Gay Anniversary (Gr), Avon Ladies , the Secret Prostitutes, the Ropes, Dead Congregation, Vile Intent, It’s Alive Records, Thedowngoing, Cloud Rat, etc .

It’s a high class, robust print, with texts written in english and in greek with a lot of humor and passion. Get it!

Ok, this here is amazing. In times like these there are very few fanzines around worth buying. You have the usual review rags, glossy and full with advertisments and articles and “interviews” with bands featured in the ads. Boring. Then you have the small ones that pop up every now and then, but after #2 or #3 the zinester looses interest and does a blog instead. And then there are zines like this one here. Perfect. Fantastic layout, great paper quality, amazing articles and interviews. There is just one bad thing… there are hardly any zines like this one, and they only come out once every 2-3 years…

In this particular case this is worth waiting. Mountza is from Greece, a country that is struggling with a bad economic situation and massive unemployment rates. This makes the zine even more remarkable. Its done by three editors and about 20 contributors, but it looks totally flawless, everything fits together, there are some columns and articles, a couple of reviews (but not too many!). There is a small part written in greek language but well,  you can try and go to a greek restaurant and ask for a translation.

This issue has a great feature on Greek Punk Discography, interviews with THE FRANTIC V (that ones unfortunately in greek…), BOB OSTERTAG, SEXDOME / ICEAGE, La Vida En Mus Records, It’s Alive Records, THE ROPES, GAY ANNIVERSARY, THE SECRET PROSTITUTES, GARY NUMAN and more, much much more.

178 pages, printed, b/w. Highly recommended.
