Water Torture/thedowngoing split-7″EP
Water Torture/thedowngoing (USA/AUS) split-7″EP (Nerve Altar) 7€
Nerve Altar is the typical example of the small label that keeps the underground alive. Low volume of releases, specialized to a single format (=vinyl), run by a musician (in our case Aaron Nichols, ex-Kalibas, ex-Defeatist) who knows a thing or two about good fucking music.
This excellent split-7″EP teams up Aussie hysterical grind merchants thedowngoing, who we are proud to have included in “Monomaniac vol.1”. The 7 tracks on their side here (piled as one!), show that they are evolving while remaining a crucial act.
Water Torture is an act I haven’t listened before and boy do they deliver some brutal, nauseating sounds. It’s basically grind/powerviolence with only bass and drums, and we are definitely talking about a band that has something special going on.
