7 inches, 10 bands, 12 songs… Welcome to the Monomaniac series! This is an ambitious discographic initiative, uniting international artists from all the spectrum of extreme underground music, with visual backup from visionaries Viral Graphics… The medium being 7″ vinyl, the challenge is that each unit offers approximately one minute (or less) of exclusive/unreleased noise!
A digital version is available on a name-your-price basis from Blastbeat Mailmurder’s bandcamp page.
(…) Monomaniac Volume One fulfills its promise, with a slew of short, exciting tracks that will cement old loyalties and most likely forge new ones. It delivers a jolt of adrenaline to the dying art of the compilation, and we can only hope the already-announced Volume Two lives up to the successes of this first installment. (…)
(…) A great comp showcasing bands from all over the globe that you should hear. I particularly like the combo of black metal bands with grindcore bands as it’s always been a marriage I’ve advocated. I’m particularly fond of Body Hammer and Diocletian’s contributions to this comp. (…)
(…) The 7-inch is gorgeously done (…).
Do yourself a favor and give this one a listen. (…)
(…) There’s an impressively eclectic amount of great music crammed onto this little beauty in a very short period of time, meaning that the first few spins will leave you bruised and bewildered, and ensuring that this is one of those discs that’s going to be subjected to more spins than a fairground waltzer! I’ve often thought that the distance between early grindcore and the kind of chaotic black/death metal (or ‘war metal’ as some would have it) as practiced by the likes of Blasphemy, Beherit, Revenge etc. is a lot shorter than some would care to admit, so kudos to this release for attempting to bridge the divide between the two genre’s somewhat seperate fan bases. Here’s hoping volume 2 is a 12” though, just so they can cram on even more delicious jams! – Kez Whelan
